Bruce Leung is a Kong Fu actor of Hong
Kong. He started up as a stuntman and a Bruce Lee clone in the 1970s, his first
movie was in 1971. Being a stuntman was a career often chose by poor men of
Hong Kong back then, they took a lot of risks, just like Jacky Chan said, he
shot movies slow in the US, for lots of approvals and qualifications, there’s
no such restrictions in Hong Kong. It was not a fun job to pretend Bruce Lee in
the movies, because most of the movies are garbages, and they had to change
their names. Both of Bruce Leung’s English name and Chinese name were changed
to resemble Bruce Lee.
Leung’s change came in the 1980s,
he shot two TV series: The Legendary Fok (1981) and The Fist (1982). In the
Hong Kong standard, these works are just so so. But these are the first and second
Hong Kong TV ever introduced to mainland China. China was just opened up; the
situation is similar to DPRK nowadays. Basically, there were nothing expect these
on the TV. You can imagine how many people were watching. And that’s how he became
famous as himself. Chinese people didn’t know Bruce Lee, but they knew Bruce Leung.
Bruce Leung has too much Fire-Earth as
Authority, so Metal-Water serves as favor. He had Fire fortunes until 1980, and
the fortune moved to 7(9) which is Metal on Metal as favor. (9) also merged (1)
and (5) to Water as favor. That’s why his success exploded in the 1980s.
