Brian Banks was a high school football
star at Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California. In 2002 he was
falsely accused of rape by classmate Wanetta Gibson. She got 1.5 million
dollars for compensation. He spent 5 years in jail, and would continue to accept
5 more years of closely monitored parole. As a registered sex offender, you can
imagine his life out of jail was not much better than in the jail.
Then his luck turned. In March 2011,
Gibson contacted Banks on Facebook, met with him, and admitted she had
fabricated the story. Banks secretly recorded her confession. Banks sent the video
to California Innocence Project. The agency proceeded
to appeal for him. On May 24, 2012, the judge who sentenced Banks to
imprisonment for 6 years, after accepting the appeal materials, took less than
a minute to lift the guilty verdict against Banks.
After regain his
innocence, Banks started his new life. He got a special call from professional
football team, played for professional leagues, and got a political position of
NFL.
In the fortune
