Liang Shuming was a Chinese scholar
politician who served as a committee in ROC and RPC governments. His success
started 1917 when he was invited to teach philosophy in Peking University. It
was a big leap forward because he was only 25 years old, had no teaching experience,
and only graduated from a middle school. And he also met Mao there who was a library keeper of the Peking University.
He wasn’t educated much
himself, but he was hired to educate senior intellectuals, because he made a quite
a name in the scholar society of China. And because of that, he was given
important consultative positions in both Chiang Kai-shek and Mao Zedong’s government
as the representative of scholars, until his death in 1988, when he was 94
years old. In another word, he was floating on the top of society all the way, despite
the ups and downs of the political tides.
In the letter he wrote to Hu
Yinghan, he said: My life code is 10(6), 9(11), 5(1), 7(9). The fortune teller’s
predictions are mostly accurate, but he said my lifespan is 74 years which is
wrong (he was older than 74 when writing this letter). But something right is
in the wrong, because Culture Revolution hit me in that year, and my property
was seized. Can you redo a fortune telling for me according to the life code?
He also talked about fortune
telling in an interview: A person in the past said I
would die in my 60s. I lost the paper he wrote to me. One existing
paper said I would live to 74. Later, I was still looking for fortune telling,
said I could live to 94. Two people said I could live to 94, I don’t know if
they are right, but they didn’t talk to each other.
He really died at the
age 94.
Let’s look at his fortune.
Liang had (11) which is Earth that contains Fire in his command, and another
Fire (6) in the basal line. Normally, if someone has these, Fire-Earth would most likely to be
the stronger side, but not in Liang’s case. The other two basal codes he
had were (9) and (1). (9) and (1) merged to Water. And he also had 9, 10 and 7
in the front line. So the power of Metal-Water was stronger than Fire-Earth. In
another word, he was still an overall weak. Metal-Water served as foe; Fire-Earth
served as favor.

If we count backward, (8) is the start of Fire-Earth fortune. His Fire-Earth
fortune started 1917, what’s why his success started 1917. He died at 94 because
the fortune 9(1) is Water on Water, and (1) is the peak of Water. Water served
as the major foe, caused his death.
One guy predicted his life
span is 74 years probably because he entered 1(3) fortune in 1967 when he was
74. 1(3) is Wood on Wood. When Fire-Earth served as favor, it is understandable
to set Wood as foe. Because Wood overcomes Earth. But in his case, his
Fire-Earth was weak because his Metal-Water was too strong. That’s why I always do
the two elements vs. two elements as a manner in this blog, it helps you see the main conflict. The main favor and the
supporter vs. the main foe and the supporter, one element in the middle. For
Liang, Wood was the element in the middle, that’s why it was not fatal. If you don’t
class the five elements in a 2 vs. 2 manner, it might confuse you. Every element
can be favor in a way, and every element can be foe in a way.
