Randall Dale Adams was an American who was wrongfully convicted of killing police. In 1976, Randall gave a ride to a young man, David Harris. David later killed a policeman while Randall was sleeping in the car, and testified for the prosecution that Randall was the shooter of the police while he was the passenger. Randall was sentenced to death.

In 1986, a documentary maker decided to make a movie about Randall’s case. He visited David Harris, and David admitted that he was the real killer of the policeman during the interview. The movie released in 1988, uncovered evidence of prosecutorial misconduct and eyewitness misidentification. Six months after the film's release, Adams' conviction was overturned by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Randall was acquitted and died 2010.
