Divination is a process
of creation, like playing Jazz or composing poem. You cannot apply what you learn mechanically. Therefore, for some
body, no matter how hard you try…
Is there an objective
standard to see who is more suitable in this area? Well, life code is a
standard, and it is objective (you can't change your birth time by your will): The more Water you have, the better you can do divination, because
people with strong Water are flexible in mind.
Let me start from the beginning. Wood
doesn't equalize to wood. It represents lots of things including
wood. Wood represents long and slim
things. It represents hair and nerve in human body, because nerves prolong.
Strong Wood serves as
favor is a symbol for tall people, Wood codes are 1, 2, (3) and (4):
Taylor Swift: 6(6), 3(1), 4(8), 1(5), well know for
being tall
The Wood code 1 is very strong: it has roots in (5)
and (8), and support from (1) and Water in (5). Furthermore, her adolescence
fortune is (3) which is Wood.
Robert Pershing Wadlow, the tallest guy on Earth, Feb
22, 1918: 5(7), 1(3), 7(1), unknown time.
1(3) was Wood sitting on positive Wood as the month
column, being supported by Water (1). And his early fortunes were Wood fortune
2(4).
Edmund Kemper, killer, 2.06m, December 18, 1948, 11:04
pm: 5(1), 1(1), 5(3), 9(1). He has the 1 in month column got all the support
from the basal codes.
Zhang Zilin, model, Miss World of 2007, 1.82m, March
22, 1984: 1(1), 4(4), 2(4). 2(4) is Wood sitting on Wood. She has double (4) as
root and (1) to support Wood.

Wood must be strong. So they are very typical among tall people.

Authority. None of them has strong root for their self code. So they are all
short.

We know that 1(3) is
Wood sitting on Wood, so it is the signature column for tall people. However,
Gary Coleman’s 1(3) was surrounded by 5(9). 1 needed to overcome double 5 and
(3) was crushed by double (9). The defeat of 1(3) made him ultra-short.
Fire codes are 3, 4,
(6) and (7). Fire makes people passionate and hasty. But it also represents
politeness. In the appearance, politeness is the opposite of hasty. It is easy
to understand Fire makes people hasty, but why polite? The answer is: Fire
represents beauty and decoration. Being polite is to decorate your image.
Fire is the symbol of
literature. In ancient China, it represents intellectuals. Because literature
was the only “knowledge” according to traditional Chinese value. Accounting and
engineering were “skills” and not respected. In the modern west, Fire becomes
the symbol of fashionable people. For example:

Besides of strong Fire, all of them have Fire as
self code. It is easy to understand: Fire means beauty, the pursuit of beauty
makes fashionable people.
Let’s go to Water. Water codes are (12), (1), 9
and 10. People with Water as self code are flexible, smart and mysterious. I
didn’t like the word mysterious of the description, because it is vague. But
indeed, Water is signature element for people who have mysterious power. For
example:

1832: 9(5), 9(1), 2(12). With (5)(1) merge to Water, all the codes expect the
self code were Water.
There people were all born in Winter
because it makes sure that they have Water code for month column. There's a blind note to about people's religion that: strong Fire makes people Buddhist, strong Water makes people Taoist. Of course it doesn't work today, because Buddhism and Taoism were the only religions in China. But there's reason for the note. Fire makes Buddhist because Buddhism is idealistic compare to Taoism which is not exactly a religion. Taoists are pure sorcerers and mysticisists, they don't have an unified ideology.
Here I need to introduce you about Shao
Yong and Kaemon Takashima, because they are important people in divination.
Shao Yong was a scholar in the Song dynasty. He never accepted official
position although he was respected by all the powerful people including the
emperor. And he was the only civilian was allowed to be worshiped in Confucius’
temple. Some people (atheists) nowadays refuse to believe Shao could do divination, they suspect he was a political broker, because officials
respected him too much.
Shao was the inventor of the “plum
flower” style divination which is a simplified version of traditional
divination. I will teach you his method in my book. The fact that he simplified
divination means he saw through divination and reached to the hidden rule. Sometimes I am
still amazed by his wisdom. For example:
The above are the eight signs in Bagua. Shao Yong said all the signs can be converted to numbers (and vice versa). That Heaven=1, Lake=2, Fire=3, Thunder=4, Wind=5,
Water=6 Mountain=7, Earth= 8. At first I thought: there’s no reason behind it,
just remember. Turns out there actually is reason: with binary, all the lines
are 1s and broken lines are 0s, then Earth 000=0, Mountain 001=1, Water 010=2,
Wind 011=3, Thunder 100=4, Fire 101=5, Lake 110=6, Heaven 111=7. If you reverse
it, you will have Shao Yong’s series. Why reverse it? Because divination is
reverse life. Life, time and logic go forward and divination goes backward. It shows you the
result first.
Kaemon Takashima was the most
important Japanese prognosticator. He is very famous in Japan and China, some
of his predictions are in history book. Till today Japan prognosticators call
themselves Takashima-ryu. But I guess he is not famous worldwide, because this
is his wiki page, it is Japanese language only. I didn’t even know how to spell
his name in English.
Takashima
wrote a book, recorded 300 examples. In my
book, I will use his examples as my examples. Why? Because divinations are not
repeatable. Unlike people’s birth day, it is there no matter what. You can’t prove this
is the sign you came up with at the first time. So I will mainly use famous and
existing examples. I will show you the a set of process about how to interpret symbols.
Seems to me, Takashima is a little
bit unbelievable. Because he didn’t have a process, he used his mere
understanding of I Ching to get the right result. So I will re-interpret his
examples and show you my way of doing it. I have a process and he didn’t. I don’t
think it means I am better than him. It’s like two players. A can score with a
team play strategy. B doesn’t have a strategy, and he can score as well. That means
B is better than A, right?
