Gu Hongming was a Chinese scholar, he was known as the
first traditional Chinese scholar that had profound understanding about the western
world. He could speak 9 languages and received 13 doctor’s degrees. However,
with all the western knowledge he had, Gu Hongming was a neo-confucianist. He supported patriarchy, polygamy
and monarchy, and kept the queue hairstyle for life.
On the other hand, Gu Hongming was a genius. He
learned German by remembering Faustulus. When he was
learning English, he remembered Shakespeare’s 37 plays in less than a year. In London, he held a newspaper upside
down. When people were mocking him, he answered: Because English is too easy.
He then read the news reversely with fluent London accent, and shocked
everybody around.
People asked Gu Hongming, about how to learn a foreign
language. His answer was: remember a book of classic first. I think he had a
point. If you start from letters, words and grammar, you will lost interest
pretty soon, and there will always be a gap between your heart and the new
language. If you remember a book of classic first, it's OK you don't understand
it at first, you will digest it little by little, soon you will be able to
appreciate the beauty of the language. In fact, it is easier to remember it
correctly when you don't understand it, and the latter you understand it, the
deeper you understand it. This method looks difficult, but it is the most
direct way to access the core of the new language. Lots of Chinese immigrant
including me can barely read newspapers after 10 years of learning English,
because we started from the basics and most of our mind was stuck there, and
never reached to the next level.

We
know that 3 and 4 are the Fire codes of the decimal codes. Zodiac codes wise, (6)(7)(8)
are the Fire codes. Gu Hongming had all the Fire codes and nothing else. It is
clear that he must yield to Fire. For a life code that yields to Fire, the
stronger the Fire is the better; therefore Wood and Fire serve as favor. Gu
Hongming had (7)(6)(5)(4)(3), 5 steps of Wood-Fire fortune, so he became a
master scholar.
And he died unsurprisingly in the (1) fortune, because (1) is
Water at the strongest that countered the Fire structure. He died 1928, it was a (5) year in the (1) fortune, (5) and (1) merged to Water. In fact, Gu Hongming
died April 30 of 1928, it was a (1) day in a (5) month of a (5) year in a (1) fortune.
In the previous blog, I mentioned Fire represents
literature skills because Fire is about beauty; so people with heavy Fire are
more attractive to sensational, metaphysical concepts, feelings and ideas,
while people with heavy Water are clearer about the actual numbers.
In my
book, I wrote the following words about William James Sidis's life code: “From what I see, I’d say William James Sidis had an artist’s
brain rather than a scientist’s brain. I said that strong Wood and Fire bring
good grade to literature; strong Metal and Water bring good grade to math. Why?
Well, people with strong Metal and Water are good at calculation because their
heads are clear, and they are clever in a slippery, cool-headed, practical, adaptive
way. Sidis had extremely strong Wood and Fire, which means he was clever in a sensational,
hot-blooded, ideal, ambitious way. This kind of people is good at literature
because they are brilliant in expression of emotions. Sidis was a genius of
understanding thoughts and symbols such as languages because Talent is the
ability of imagining and associating ideas, but this way of thinking was not suitable
for precise calculation and deduction. He couldn’t help but thought too much
(too much Talent) and easily got excited (too much Fire). That would lead to
confusion, dizziness and Neurasthenia.”
Just like Gu Hongming, James Williams Sidis also had extreme
Fire that brought him extreme language skills. He could speak 8 languages at
the age of 8.
